Husband and Wife team, Alaskan artist Kathy Sarns (Irwin)

and Pat Irwin - single speed bike guru, exercise physiologist, started out with a bike shop/art gallery.

With Pats encouragement Kathy first designed the ALASKA GOLD RUSH ALASKA cycling jersey, using Kathy's popular Gold Rush License plate original design (that won the 1998 Best Plate in the United States Award).

Now their head turning FREE SPIRIT clothing is selling all over the world !

Kathy specializes in intaglio printmaking and graphic design that she uses for the best looking active clothing ever ! Her images are products of a vivid imagination inspired by a unique and adventurous life in Alaska with her husband Pat and 3 dogs.

Pat grew up in Tennessee and came out to Alaska one winter to race 350 miles on the Iditarod trail on his single speed bike. After winning the race a few more times, he decided to stay and marry the owner of the B & B where he stayed..(Kathy Sarns).

Kathy Sarns has lived in Alaska since 1982. She drove from Maine in a beat up yellow Volkswagen to work in a fish cannery and she stayed. The fish business was not for her but she followed her talents as an artist and her career has lead her through a variety  of creative jobs and adventures.

She is now a a successful independent artist and designer. Kathy has also been a Junior Nordic ski coach since 1984 in Anchorage (for kids ages 6-13).

Pat & Kathy are expanding Free Spirit Wear clothing line to more states and more styles. Whenever possible they fit in some adventure in Alaska to remind themselves why they live here.
